Dr and Mrs. Bixby lived in a small apartment in New York, he was a dentist and Mrs. Bixby was his wife.

2- Who is the ‘dirty dog’? Describe him.
The dirty dog is the colonel who lived in a charming house on the outskirts of the town; he didn’t have wife or family, only a few discreet and loyal servants. He was very tall and bristly and smelled faintly of horseradish.

3-what was the purpose of this gift?
The purpose of the gift was colonel’s good wishes as a parting gift and to say good bye.

4- What was inside of the box? Describe it.
Inside of the box there was a mink coat, the coat had a glorious color, pure black white a touch of deep blue like cobalt.

5- When she offered herself to go to the pawnbroker to claim the article, what did he say?
He said that she could be cheated.

6- When she was leaving his office she was determined to do something, what was it?
She was determined to kill the pawnbroker, she was going to the shop in that moment and throw the fifty neckpiece in his face and if he refuses she was going to kill him.

7- Why do you think Miss Pulteney had the colonel’s coat?
Miss Pulteney had the colonel’s coat because Dr. Bixby had offered it to her because they had a love affair.
